Advantage Welding and Machining is predominately a quality jobbing repair shop, coupled with the manufacture of various components to customer specification. Advantage Welding and Machining's major strength is in their ability to weld cast iron and carry out precision repairs.
Advantage Welding and Machining offers a complete service for customers who are looking to have machinery components repaired, modified or updated. Once a component is welded, we have a well equipped machine shop ready to return the component to ‘brand new’ condition. The Machinists at Advantage Welding and Machining regularly work to tolerances of 0.013mm as required.

Our range of equipment allows us to precision machine a wide variety of repaired components back to original specifications. Customers have often remarked the repaired component looks brand new.
Cast iron by nature is a difficult material to weld. If the right process is not applied it is very likely to crack. There are a number variables that must be controlled through the welding process such as temperature, movement on the material (expansion, contraction, buckling, distortion) and porosity (how clean the material is to weld). Also factors such as the thickness of the material and the position of the repair in the casting need to be considered. This will also determine the heating and cooling processes used.
Due to the specialised nature of welding cast iron, many Companies refuse to work with cast iron or will only attempt simple repairs with limited success. Advantage Welding and Machining has made cast iron repairs it’s speciality and has earned the reputation as the place to go whenever any cast iron repairs are required.

We have a comprehensive machine shop comprising of CNC and manual machines.
Our CNC Sachman bed mill comes with a universal head and has a 3 metre ‘X’, 1.2 metre ‘Y’
and 1.5 metre ‘Z’ travel. Coupled with a 10 tonne carrying capacity on the bed, this is one of
the largest bed mills in Rockhampton.
